In 2017, FunkyTim joined forces with Rudy Escajeda, Brandon Michael, and James Ayala to form The Merlots, a back to basics combination of feel good covers and originals. The Merlots pull inspiration from 70's R&B, 80's Pop, and 90's Alternative, often times retreating to a laid-back, acoustic atmosphere.
